Katya Mendez |
As Port Elizabeth’s favourite drag artist, academic and researcher, and make-up artist, Katya has engaged with the art of drag since the latter part of 2015 and by engaging in this art form has embarked on an advocacy role for gender diversity integration and equality in a postmodern society.
In addition, Katya focusses on empowerment and resilience within contemporary society for all.
The first public panel discussion Katya participated in was during the Nelson Mandela University’s gender fluid exhibition on how society perceives and interact with gender performance through fashion.
She brings an inspiring and touching talk on “being your authentic self” to corporate audiences (specifically women) and can combine her presentation with a make-up demo.
